About Eilean Donan Castle
Eilean Donan Castle is an icon of the Highlands: a restored castle perched on a small island where three sea lochs meet, reached by an arched stone footbridge. Inside, you can explore recreated living spaces that tell the story of the MacRae clan and the castle's destruction and 20th-century rebirth. Outside, viewpoints around the shore deliver the postcard-perfect shots seen on calendars and film posters, especially at high tide or sunset. It's a natural stop on the road to Skye, but also works well as a turning-point on a day trip from Inverness via Lochcarron and the west coast.
