About Dunrobin Castle
Dunrobin Castle is one of the most striking castles in the Highlands, often compared to a French château thanks to its conical towers and grand roofline. Overlooking the Moray Firth near Golspie, it has origins dating back to the early 1300s and is the historic seat of the Earls and Dukes of Sutherland. Visitors can explore richly furnished rooms, artefacts in the private museum, and formal terraced gardens inspired by the Palace of Versailles that sweep down towards the sea. In season, daily falconry displays bring the lawns to life as owls and hawks skim just above the crowd. It's a superb stop on a north-bound road trip or NC500 detour.
