Day by Day

Day 1: Morning: Loch Lomond & Rannoch Moor

Depart Edinburgh or Glasgow early — no later than 8am. From Glasgow, take the A82 north along the west bank of Loch Lomond — stop at Luss for the picturesque loch-side village and coffee. Drive through Crianlarich and Tyndrum (quick coffee stop at the Green Welly Stop). Cross Rannoch Moor — a vast, flat, empty peat bog fringed by mountains. Stop at the Rannoch Moor viewpoint for photos.

Day 1: Afternoon: Glencoe & Return

Arrive in Glencoe village. Walk the Glencoe Lochan circular (easy, 2.5km, 45 mins) or begin the Lost Valley approach if time allows (moderate, 2–3 hours). Lunch in Glencoe village. Drive to the head of the glen and stop at the Study viewpoint for the classic Glencoe panorama. Return south via the same route, stopping at Inveruglas viewpoint on Loch Lomond, or divert via the Dukes Pass through Aberfoyle.
