Day 1: Stirling to Inveraray via Rest and Be Thankful

Drive west via the A84 and A82, turning south at Tarbet to follow the west coast of Loch Lomond through Arrochar. Ascend the Rest and Be Thankful pass — a dramatic mountain road with views down Glen Kinglas. Continue to Inveraray — visit Inveraray Castle, the ancestral home of the Duke of Argyll and Chief of Clan Campbell.

Day 2: Kilchurn, Loch Awe & Oban
Head north from Inveraray up the A819 to Loch Awe — drive to the Kilchurn Castle layby on the A85 for the classic view of the ruined 15th-century Campbell castle. Continue to Oban — one of the west coast's most vibrant towns, with a natural harbour framed by McCaig's Tower. Take the steep walk up to McCaig's Tower for panoramic views across the harbour, Kerrera, and Mull. Enjoy fresh seafood on the pier before returning east.
